The Porretta Soul Festival, Tribute to Otis Redding is Europe’s most popular classic soul, rhythm & blues music festival.
The idea of holding the festival came after Graziano Uliani met the Redding family in Macon, Georgia in 1988. Every year, numerous internationally renowned artists take turns to perform in various concerts held at the Rufus Thomas Park in Porretta Terme.
Today, the festival is the ideal bridge between Porretta and anywhere in the world where music lives.
Genuine legends and the finest names in soul have performed in Porretta, thus entering by right into the encyclopaedias and official biographies of the great soul performers, so much so that it has earned a place in the prestigious Stax Museum of American Soul Music in Memphis.
In this 37th edition, the connection with the city of Memphis is strengthened even more: this year the Porretta Terme music festival will host the Memphis Music Hall of Fame band, directed by Kurt Clayton.
