Bologna Montana Art Trail

Bologna Montana Art Trail is a 100 km themed trail across the territories of several municipalities in the Apennines of Bologna (Loiano, Monghidoro, Monterenzio, Monzuno, S. Benedetto Val di Sambro e Firenzuola). It can be travelled on foot, by bicycle or on horseback along specially designed paths suitable for everyone.

This unique and evocative trek blends together art and nature, where hikers will be able to explore the world of Land Art, meet artists and approach the surrounding environment in a different way. Thus, the trail becomes an open-air gallery dotted with dozens and dozens of works.

Bologna Montana Art Trail winds its way through paths, villages and places of great historical and natural value such as the Monte Bibele Archaeological Park the ancient Roman road Flaminia Militare.
The project began in 2023 with the installation of the first 5 works and plans to add more than 50 in the following years. The Bologna Montana Land Art Festival is held along the route, an event where artists are invited to create monumental works of land art in scenic locations along the itinerary.

10. Pioggia sonante, at Mount Bibele – Monterenzio
11. Holy Bee-Love Bee Valley Idice, at “Cartiera dei Benandanti” – Monghidoro

14. Tritone, at “Fantorno” – Alpe di Monghidoro
15. Istrice, at “Pineta” – Loiano
