“Ciclovia delle Valli Bolognesi (Bologna Valleys cycle path) is the new 146 kilometres long E-MTB path characterised by a circular trail. The track connects the three already-existing routes of the Savena-Idice area: “Via Flaminia Minor” (Flaminia Minor route), “Via del Fantini” (the Fantini way), and “Via Mater Dei” (Mater Dei route).

“Via Flaminia Minor” is a charming route combining historical and natural beauty. Starting from Bologna, it makes its way through “Via Emilia” (Emilia route) and ends in the Tuscan territory.
“Via del Fantini” is a 50 kilometre-long route through natural parks, museums and archaeological sites to the discovery of Luigi Fantini, a speleologist and researcher who dedicated his life to the understanding of the Bologna Apennines area.
“Via Mater Dei” is the route dedicated to the Marian shrines in the Bologna Apennines: a path rich both in religious testimony and landscapes of great natural beauty.

The route, 30% of which takes place on dirt tracks, has been conventionally divided into three legs: the Ozzano-Monterenzio section (48 kilometres), the Monterenzo-Loiano section (44 kilometres), and the Loiano-Ozzano one (56 kilometres), with a total difference in level of 3460 metres.

Along the ride, you will bump into ravines, areas of natural interest, and breathtaking landscapes, as well as several municipalities with some places of interest. Among them: the Roman town of Claterna in Ozzano dell’Emilia, the Etruscan-Celtic village in Monterenzio, the “Santuario della Madonna di Lourdes” (Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes) in Campeggio, the Sanctuary in Madonna dei Boschi, and the “Museo della Preistoria Luigi Donini” (Prehistory Museum ‘Luigi Donini’) in San Lazzaro di Savena.
