The “Linea Gotica” (gothic line) can be considered a 175-kilometre lay trail that touches the heart of the Gothic Line, where the Germans clashed with the men and women of the Italian Resistance. It offers hikers the obvious pleasure of walking in the midst of greenery, on paths and mule tracks. But it is also important as a historical trail that reconstructs the origins of the Italian Constitution, starting in the mountains where the partisans died.
The route of this historical trail runs from west to east: it starts from lake Scaffaiolo in the Parco Regionale del Corno alle Scale regional park and reaches Riolo Terme, following the “Sentiero Italia” route.Along the way, you will pass through parks and areas of particular naturalistic value, including the Parco Regionale del Corno alle Scale, the Parco Storico di Monte Sole, the Riserva Naturale Contrafforte Pliocenico and the Parco della Vena del Gesso romagnola.
Located in the heart of Livergnano, inside one of the houses carved into the rock of the Pliocene Spur, the Winter Line Museum is well worth a visit. It houses an important collection of objects dating back to World War II.
