The LAG (Local Action Group) of the Bolognese Apennines is a limited liability consortium, established on 20 December 2002 to implement the “LEADER” Local Action Plan (LAP) an acronym in French – Liaison Entre Actions de Developpement de l’Economie Rurale (links between actions for the development of the rural economy) and operates within the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
The thematic areas on which it intends to operate are primarily “Sustainable tourism” and, in connection with the same, the “Development and innovation of local production chains and systems (agri-food, forestry, craft and manufacturing)”.

The Local action group aims to strengthen the ability of local actors to develop and implement their operations, by stimulating their project management skills, preparing and publishing calls for proposals or a permanent call for proposals for the submission of projects, including defining selection criteria, receiving and evaluating applications for support.

The principles of community-led local development:

The term “community-led local development” is used by the European Commission to describe an approach that radically reverses the traditional “top-down” development policy by introducing a “bottom-up” approach”. CLLD allows the territory to directly form a local partnership that draws up and implements an integrated development strategy. The strategy is designed so that it is developed on the basis of social, environmental and economic strengths, that is, on the heritage of the community, rather than merely compensating for its problems.
